Olang (in Italian Valdaora) is a municipality in South Tyrol (Italy) close to Bruneck. The village lies on a sea hight of about 1,000 metres and has roughly 2,900 inhabitants.
The coat of arms of the municipality: in silver a green legal beam, within it 3 golden cartwheels. The green beam indicates the soaring up of farmland, in which the 3 places- Lower, Middle and Upper Olang lie, indicated through the 3 cartwheels. Awarding by decree of the Regional Committee Presidcent on the 10th of January 1968.
Olang is internationally known as a mountain tobogganing stronghold. In the 70’s, the championship of the art of road toboggans was held. One must work hard to win to make himself a name in the tobogganing scene. After additional tobogganing world cups and the world championship in 2000, the European championship in mountain tobogganing was held on the 15.02.08 – 17.02.08.
